When I was a kid, my sister had this travel mug that I would frequently steal, which was covered in groovy pink and orange waves and had a button you could press that made it play a clip of the song “Heatwave”. I loved that thing. I think it’s still in a cupboard in my mom’s house… it was one of the first things I can remember listening to over and over and over again…
Anyway hello from the heat wave. As I’m writing this, it’s 101 degrees outside and we’re nominating a new candidate for mayor.
Here’s David’s seasonal playlist…
Ok studio news. We’re hosting a post production panel with AIR! What’s a post production panel? It’s like an art critique, but for audio. We’ve invited Rob Byers, Jeremy Bloom, and Hannis Brown (stacked cast, I know!!) to give feedback on YOUR mixes!
We felt like we’ve seen and attended similar meetups, but mostly for producers– spaces where they could share their work and discuss it. We wanted to make a space for us post production folks too, where we can talk about what we do creatively and technically, share our work, and ask each other questions!
If you want to sign up, it’s FREE and on Zoom. We’ll be updating the page soon with info about how to submit your mix!
In other news.. we hosted a flea market for radio gear! It was a great success! Thanks to all who came out <3
And as always we recorded lots of cool books and podcasts…
And You Feeling This 2 came out! It features many wonderful stories and creators.
We also loved seeing so many friendly faces at Tribeca this year! It was a lovely week of listening events, get togethers, and community space. Hats off to the Tribeca Audio folks.
Ok on the subject of community I want to say something here… I’ve been feeling a lot of stuff about the State Of Things In Audio (obviously), but even more than that, I’ve been feeling a lot of stuff about the State Of The People In Audio. So I just want to say a few things to you.
I like you. I like your work.
You are important to me.
I don’t think you’re interchangeable.
I think you’re kind, and funny, and thoughtful.
I think you are a good listener,
I think you have a lot to say.
Ok. that’s it.
I’ll leave you with this pretty sunrise photo from David’s trip to Japan.
Stay cool,
Erica, David, & Good Studio
